• Rachel Parcell of Pink Peonies drove $1 million in sales for Nordstrom in 2014, during the holiday season.
• Shopstyle’s top bloggers are causing 315% increase in sales for its brands, year over year.
Looks like brands are benefitting equally by paying bloggers for advertisements.
Is this trend slowing down? Doesn’t look like it.
• Industry estimates say that brands currently spend more that $1 billion per year on sponsored Instagram posts.
• Forrester research predicts, in 2016 spending on affiliate marketing will reach up to $4.5 Billion

When you start blogging, Ad networks might be the easiest way to get started to monetize your blog.
Ad networks enable you to display ads on your blog and as visitors click on them, you get paid. It could be CPC (cost per click), CPM (Cost per thousand Impression) and/or Fixed rate. Find out which one works best for you, depending on which stage your blog is at.

With the rise of social media and blogging, influencer networks came into existence. Brands are always looking for new ways to promote their products.
Influencer networks have made it easy for brands to connect with top influencers around the world. Influencers can charge from $200 to $5000 per shout out depending on the number of followers & follower engagement on their platform.

3, Mystery Shopper
Mystery shopping industry has become huge in last few years. You can get paid from $6- $25 per mystery shop, depending on the company.
But, be careful since there are a lot of mystery shopper scams. When you pick a mystery shopping company, check to see if they are a member of MSAP. It is trade association representing customer experience industry throughout the US.

4, Create Directories on your Blog
If your blog is reaching niche and targeted audience, you can leverage that. You can create list/directories of resources on your blog. e.g: if you blog is about PR, you can list all the PR agencies and charge the PR agency to be on your list.
This could be a great way to generate recurring income, depending on how you structure your payment plan.
5, Job Postings
Companies are always looking for best candidates. You can list of new job openings in that could benefit your target audience and charge companies per applicant and/or listing fee.
It could have a dual benefit, you can make money from the companies, plus your readers would greatly benefit from it as well since they will be able to get access to new jobs.
6, Newsletter Ads
You can showcase ads or sponsored products in your newsletter. It is a good place to start if you have at least 5000 subscribers. Depending on what kind of audience you have, you can work with local boutiques to showcase “boutique of the week” and/or “product of the week” on your newsletter.
You can charge boutiques at least $100 per post and go from there. It is win/win situation for both parties since they will be able to get access to the audience they don’t have access to.
You can use bit.ly and other link shorting sites to measure the number of clicks, and offer analytics to those boutiques.
7, Podcasting Advertising
Podcasting has been huge in last few years. I listen to podcasts when I am walking home, at the gym. If you have a good audience, you can insert shout out to the audience regarding brands/offers they can benefit from.
Word of caution, make sure you know that your audience would benefit from your offer. Because you do not want to appear ‘salesy’ and give shout-outs to non-targeted brands.
8, Giveaways for Brands
Who doesn’t like free products? Giveaways are a great way to generate buzz and acquire email addresses. A lot of bloggers offer giveaways from different brands for cost and brands can collect email addresses of their target audience.
Instagram bloggers have cornered this market and if it fits your area, this could generate significant revenue for you. You can charge per email or per campaign.
9, Lead Generation
This can be considered subsection of giveaways. You can charge brands per lead generated via entry forms for giveaways. If your blog has a younger audience, you can work with online universities and work as lead generation tool for them.
Online universities such DeVry, University of Phoenix etc. pay lot of money per lead.

Become a brand ambassador, for a fashion brand. If you are starting out and have limited audience, you can reach out to local boutiques in your area and become a brand ambassador for them.
As a brand ambassador, you can promote their store, wear the brand clothes, promote them on Instagram, etc. You can work out details with the boutique and charge them per campaign and/or per month.
11, Sponsored Blog Posts
Write sponsored posts where you give your honest experience with the brand. eg: if you have tried new makeup/beauty product, tell your audience about it. Give them your honest point of view and offer a discount to the product.
You can charge at least ~ $300 per sponsored post even when you are starting out. The amount of money you charge will depend on your email list, social media followers etc. So price your shout-out accordingly.

Sponsored blog posts can also be accompanied with social media shout-outs. If you have over 50K on Instagram followers, this could work well for you. You can offer brands combined deal with blog & social media shout out.

Becoming a reseller is a great way of making money. If you like a brand and know that there is a target audience in your reach who will buy it, you can become a reseller.
Few brands would let you white label their product or service under your name and resell it to your clients. This could generate good passive income for you.
15, Sell at Amazon, Zappos
Amazon & Zappos have a great affiliate program. You can sign up for their affiliate program for free and earn commission on the item you drive traffic to.
You can also make your own products, such as handmade scarves, necklaces etc and sell them on amazon by utilizing their audience.
If you don’t want to deal with shipping, Amazon also offers fulfillment program, where you can send them the product, and when a customer places an order, they will ship the product to you. It will save you shipping and return headaches.

It’s human nature to keep learning and keep growing. If you are skilled in creating a blog post, taking photographs, SEO, Facebook ads etc. you can host Webinars and/or Workshops. You can teach people your best skills and charge per person.
I used to do webinars and teach SEO skills and could charge $20 – $50 per person. Webinars worked the best because I could have over 100 people on the same webinar and share my expertise with them.
I would run webinar over GoTo meeting, thus minimizing my cost. Your main expense would be advertising, to get people to sign up. But if you have good blog traffic and email list, you can do that for free.
17, Seminars / Host an Event
Hosting an event is great but it takes time. The best way would be to co-produce an event/seminar with others who have complementary skills. Find other bloggers in your area who have complimentary skills than you and create a collective event.
You can make it an all-day event where attendees can learn about different topics.
You will be able to charge more for this type of event but you will also have additional expenses such as venue cost, food etc.
So, run your numbers and see if webinars or seminars work best for you and pick accordingly.
18, Guest Appearance
This might be the easiest way to make money if you are popular. You can charge for making a guest appearance at events in your area. Brands and/or societies would often pay bloggers to attend an event.
This works well for the societies because they can drive additional traffic to their event by using the famous blogger’s name.

You can take on few brands and/or boutiques and either does social media consulting for them or handle their social media channels for few hundred dollars a month.
23, Build Websites
You can build websites for your audience. Use tools such as WordPress, Squarespace, Wix etc to create quick websites and charge for it.
24, Build Apps
Building apps is another great way to generate cash. But if you don’t have programming knowledge, it would be difficult to build apps for your audience.
What you can do is become a partner with companies that build apps and when you get a client who wants their app done, you can pass on that lead to other company and take 10-15% commission per project.
There are multiple freelance works you can do. List your area of expertise and offer that as service on your website.
26, Speaking Engagements
As stated before, you can do webinars or seminars to generate cash. But hosting your own seminar might get expensive and time-consuming.
Another way would be to work with agencies and be a guest speaker for their event. Reach out to your network and ask for speaking engagements.
You can also with Universities and do speaking engagements for their classes. Universities would be more than happy to pay you and have cash reserves.
27, Photography Tips/Training
When I started blogging, I was not at all good at taking photographs. I would use my iPhone or Canon SLR to take shots but it still wasn’t cutting it. So, I hired a photographer for 3 hours, to show me tips and tricks for photography.
He taught me how to shoot a photograph, how to think about lighting, time of the day etc. Then he showed me Photoshop tricks to make my images look more professional. He charged me $100/hour but it was worth the money.

We live in the health-conscious world and people are willing to pay large sums of money to health and fitness.
Become a personal coach and offer 1 on 1 services.
If you are living in cities as SF, LA, NY, Paris, London, Sydney etc., then you will have access to a lot of modeling agencies.
And if you have good social media following, you can leverage that to become a model for various brands.

If you are knowledgeable about any topic, you can self-publish the book. Books that help people improve personal lives and/or businesses tend to do very well.
Write a physical book about what you think your audience might need and make some cash.
35, Write and sell an eBook
Kindle and iPad have changed the way people read. It’s much easier to publish and eBook than ever before.
Write an eBook on a topic that you are knowledgeable about and then use Amazon’s publishing platform. Kindle, has huge readership so it would be easier to get your book in front of millions of people. But the drawback is, you will be competing with hundreds of books and Amazon takes a cut.
If you want to do it on your own, you can sell it via creating a Shopify store and selling your book there.

Can you audience use and need templates to make their business process easier. Do a survey with your audience and find what are their problems and then create templates to solve them.
You can offer basic templates for free and charge small free for complex templates.

We all want what we can’t have and what is in limited supply. It’s basic economic principle of Supply & Demand.
Use your creative skills to produce limited edition designs, merchandise etc and sell it at premium prices.
